6th Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Award Ceremony to Be Held September 8 at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall

The Executive Director of the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize has announced that the 6th edition of the award ceremony will take place on September 8, 2025, on the eve of the birth of the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall, gathering prominent scientific figures from across the Islamic world.

MSTF Media reports:
Seyed Ali Omrani, the Executive Director of the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize, announced that the Mustafa(pbuh)  Prize Week, running from September 6 to 10, will feature science outreach and specialized programs.
The week will open on September 6, with the inaugural presentation of the Young Scientist Medal, awarded to outstanding researchers under 40. Winners of this medal also receive a cash prize of $10,000. This initiative, which is a new addition to the Mustafa(pbuh) Week programs, seeks to incentivize young researchers from the Islamic world and recognize their innovative contributions. The medal serves as a symbol of the scientific merit and excellence of the brilliant young generation.
Omrani added that the MSTF Observatory, which is an outreach division of the MSTF, will host several programs during the week. These events will include the Noor Student Competition, which will be held on the final day of the Prize Week. Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Science Cafes, focusing on the achievements of this year’s laureates, will also be held on different days of the week.
The Sci-Quest social media movement, also focusing on these achievements, will be held wherein science enthusiasts reinterpret the achievements in clear, simple language, Omrani says. Science enthusiasts will also be able to compete as Mustafa(pbuh) Prize Observers, creatively narrating the Prize Week’s events through their lens.
Omrani also announced that the 10th Science and Technology Exchange Program in Islamic Countries (STEP) will be held in the form of one-day programs at several universities in Tehran. STEP provides a platform for scientists and technologists from Islamic countries to exchange ideas, present research, and explore collaborative opportunities.
The call for nominations for the 6th Mustafa(pbuh) Prize was published in November 2023 in the three fields of “Information and Communication Science and Technology,” “Life and Medical Science and Technology,” and “Basic and Engineering Sciences.” Nominations could be submitted by universities, reputable scientific centers, scientific and technological associations and growth centers, Islamic countries’ academies of sciences, science and technology parks, or through other prominent scientists and scientific figures. The submission deadline was August 31, 2024.
This award is presented in the two categories “Mustafa(pbuh) Prize laureates” and “Mustafa(pbuh) Prize laureates from Islamic countries,” to individuals or groups, whether Muslims around the world or citizens of the 57 Islamic countries, with no restrictions on age, gender, or religion.
The Mustafa(pbuh) Prize was established in 2012 as a biennial award by approval of the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, with the first edition held in 2015. Since then, ceremonies have taken place in Tehran (2015, 2017, 2019, 2021), and Isfahan (2023). Over the past decade, the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize has recognized and honored 19 distinguished scientists from countries such as Singapore, Jordan, Turkey, Iran, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Pakistan, Morocco, and Egypt.
This award is named after the Holy Prophet of Islam, who put great emphasis on learning, and whose title, Mustafa (one of many), means “the Chosen One.’ The Mustafa(pbuh) Prize is awarded simultaneously with Islamic Unity Week and the Prophet’s birth anniversary.
