2017 Mustafa(Pbuh) Prize Laureates’ Busts Unveiled

Busts of Prof. Gelenbe and Prof. Shokrollahi, laureates of the 2017 Mustafa(Pbuh) Prize were unveiled at Pardis Technology Park.

busts of Prof. Gelenbe and Prof. Shokrollahi, laureates of the 2018 Mustafa Prize were unveiled at ‘Scientists’ Garden’ of Pardis Technology Park on 22 October 2018 with the presence of Jorge Chediak, Director of the United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation and the Envoy of the UN Secretary-General; Mahdi Saffarinia, the President of Pardis Technology Park; Ali Morteza Birang; Deputy for International Affairs and Head of Technological Exchange Center of the I.R.I Vice-Presidency for Science and Technology; Majid Bizmark, Director General of International Multilateral Cooperation of the I.R.I. Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of specialized organizations of Turkey and Mexico, and the respected family of Prof. Shokrollahi.

 

Erecting the sculptures and busts of prominent scientific and technological figures of the world in the ‘Scientists’ Garden’ of Pardis Technology Park within area of 10,000 m2 is a project designed to honor the efforts made by world's leading scientists in various fields of science and technology. Set up in 2007 by Pardis Technology Park Management along with the cooperation of the I.R.I Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this project continues performing its mission consistently.

 

According to this project, monuments will be put up in the ‘Scientists’ Garden’ of Pardis Technology Park representing scientists and researchers of various fields of science, either in the past or present, who have worked to serve humanity and could have taken a major step forward in  developing science while bringing dignity for their country.

 

Cooperated and perused by the I.R.I Ministry of Foreign Affairs and embassies of the Islamic Republic of Iran in other countries, more than fifty countries have introduced their prominent scientific figures. It is anticipated that by the end of the year 2020, the ‘Scientists’ Garden’ of Pardis Technology Park will have been ornamented with the sculptures and busts of the influential scientific figures of about seventy countries.

 

So far, nine sculptures have been erected in the ‘Scientists’ Garden’ of Pardis Technology Park; and today, attended by the family of Prof. Shokrollahi, his bust and that of Prof. Gelenbe were put up in this Garden.

 

The 2017 Mustafa Prize in Information Theory was awarded to Prof. M. Amin Shokrollahi in recognition of his outstanding work on Communications: Raptor Codes. The 2017 Mustafa Prize in Information and Communication Science and Technology was also awarded to Prof. Sami Erol Gelenbe for his pioneering research on “Modeling and Performance Evaluation of Computer Systems”.
