The Mustafa(Pbuh) Prize Is a Great Opportunity to Discover the Impressive Scientific Activities in the Islamic World

Professor of chemistry and chemical engineering at Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) stated that the Mustafa(Pbuh) Prize is a very enlightening experience, as it creates the opportunity to discover the impressive scientific activities in the Islamic world.

MSTF Media reports:

Majed Chergui, Algerian professor and director of the Lausanne Centre for Ultrafast Science (LACUS), maintained that “the previous event was also a nice opportunity to meet and to know many colleagues from all over the world, whom I did not know before and whose remarkable achievements I discovered.”

Pointing to the necessity of holding the Mustafa Prize award ceremony in the Islamic countries, Chergui asserted that the Mustafa Prize is a scientific award for the Muslim world and should be granted in an Islamic country; however, the award’s ceremony can be organized in different Islamic countries.

Commenting on the latest achievements of the Islamic world, Chergui said that apart from countries like Iran, Malaysia and Indonesia which are doing remarkably well in the realm of science, especially in view of the current situation, the performance of some other countries are disappointing. However, all the resources are there to succeed.

Chergui’s research focus is on ultrafast spectroscopy of (bio)molecular and Nano systems, as well as condensed matter.

Held biennially, the Mustafa Prize is a science and technology award granted to top researchers and scientists of the Islamic world. The third round of the Mustafa Prize was held in November 2019 at Tehran's Vahdat Hall.
