Science celebrated on the eve of the winter solstice

On the eve of Yaldā Night, popular artists and science promotion activists took to the stage at Azadi innovation factory.

The ceremony centers on the ElmKavi competition in which non-experts are informed about scientific achievements of the Mustafa(pbuh) prize laureates including Ugur Sahin, Ali Khademhosseini, Cumrun Vafa, Omid C. Farokhzad and Samia J. Khoury.

The “ElmKavi” segment of the event featured presentations and discussions by the winners of ElmKavi competition.

The musical performance as well as recite Ferdowsi and Hafez’s poetry was another part of the ceremony that was welcomed by the audience.

At the end of this ceremony, winners of the ElmKavi competition in its previous five rounds were appreciated.

Yalda marks the end of autumn and the longest night of the year. Since days get longer and nights to get shorter in winter, Iranians, Central Asian countries, and some parts of Pakistan, India some Caucasian states celebrate the last night of autumn as the renewal of the sun and the victory of light over darkness.
