The tenth "Sci-Quest" has begun

The call for the tenth "Sci-Quest" on the topic of producing scientific-promotional content in the field of Professor Ugur Sahin's achievements in lung cancer vaccine development has been published.

MSTF media reports: The call for the tenth Sci-Quest titled "A Vaccine for Cancer" was published simultaneously with World Cancer Day (February 14th). Those interested in promoting science can produce scientific-promotional content in the form of multimedia tools about Ugur Sahin's achievements, the fourth recipient of the Mustafa (pbuh) Prize in the field of lung cancer vaccine development.

Ugur Sahin is a Turkish scientist in the field of immunology and cancer research and the CEO of BioNTech. He was able to use his research from long ago to produce the first mRNA-based vaccine for the prevention of COVID-19. Recently this oncologist, along with his research group, has developed a vaccine for the treatment of lung cancer, which is currently in the clinical trial phase.

In this Sci-Quest, participants are required to introduce this emerging technology through multimedia tools including infographic clips, motion graphics, and podcasts, to the audience. Participants have until the end of February to submit their works after production and publication under the hashtag Sci-Quest (#Sci-Quest) on various social media platforms to the secretariat via https://mustafaprize.org/fa/events/43/details. The top works will be honored after review and judging by the Mustafa (pbuh) Science and Technology Foundation.

Participants in the tenth Sci-Quest must answer several questions, specifically focusing on three key questions in their scientific promotional content: Why is cancer treatment difficult? Why is cancer treatment different for each person? And what is the mechanism of the cancer vaccine developed by Ugur Sahin and his research team? They must effectively and attractively explain these questions in simple language for science enthusiasts, utilizing their artistic abilities. Participation in this promotional program is open both individually and in groups.

The goal of the Sci-Quest campaign is to collaborate and engage the younger generation interested in the field of science and technology, enhancing the dynamism and impact of the science and technology ecosystem at the community level while clarifying the achievements of the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize laureates as icons of science and technology in the Islamic world. These enthusiasts can narrate the accomplishments of the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize laureates in simple and engaging language through various forms of content such as informative clips, infographics, animated images, and podcasts, and publish them on various social media pages.

The Sci-Quest campaign has evolved through its fifth round of the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize since September 2022, focusing on the works of two laureates from this round, namely Omid Farokhzad and Samia Khoury, as well as some laureates from previous round such as Ugur Sahin, Ali Khademhoseini, and Kamran Vafa. Enthusiasts were invited to creatively depict and explain the fields of work of these distinguished scientists engagingly for the audience. Now, approximately a year and a half later, this initiative has reached its tenth stage.

Additionally, Sci-Quest will occur as an international competition in parallel with the sixth award round of the Mustafa(pbuh) Prize next year in Tehran. In this program, participants from various countries will present some scientific achievements in simple language to audiences. These participants can include interested students, science promotion activists, or scientists and university professors.
