KANS First Round Winners Honored

The closing ceremony of KANS scientific competition was held at Amirkabir University of Technology honoring 8 KANS winners.

The closing ceremony of KANS scientific competition was held on 12 November 2018 in Mawlana Hall at Amirkabir University of Technology attended by Ali Akbar Salehi, I.R.I. Vice President; Saeed Sohrabpoor, Head of the KANS’s jury; Mahdi Saffarinia, CEO of the MSTF and the Secretary of the Mustafa Prize Policy-Making Council; Ahmad Motamedi, President of Amirkabir University of Technology; and Mahmoud Fotouhi, President of Sharif University of Technology.

At the beginning of the ceremony, 16 individuals (who had been selected in the first stage of the selection process) presented their works to the jury panel and the prominent scientific scholars during the second stage of the selection process, where an individual from Malaysia was also among the selected ones.

The jury panel of the second stage of the selection process were drawn from among pundits of rhetoric, technology, policy-making, and investment. They evaluated the works from different angles and perspectives while focusing on the applicability of ideas.

During this ceremony, 30 university students put forward their ideas in a one-minute contest called “30 by 30” [30 individuals proposing 30 ideas].

In this closing ceremony of KANS scientific competition, Dr. Saeed Sohrabpour, Head of the KANS’s jury, said: “1045 university students, researchers, and faculty members from 15 countries of the Islamic world participated in this competition in fields of energy, healthcare, water and the environment, economy, and ICT.”

During the ceremony, Mahdi Saffarinia, CEO of the MSTF and the Secretary of the Mustafa Prize Policy-Making Council, announced the launch of the Mustafa Art Museum and said: “So far, 20 works on Islamic civilization have been donated to the Mustafa Art Museum from distinguished artists.”

Pointing out the importance of science in administering justice, Ali Akbar Salehi, I.R.I. Vice President, also stated in this scientific gathering: "If we want to advance our rightfulness where the challenge of right and wrong exists, we will have no way but to be armed with science; and this cornerstone is not attainable only by words or by pleading others for help.”

In this closing ceremony, the individuals placed first in each area of expertise in KANS scientific competition received a 20g gold medal. Three individuals selected for the “Top Presentations” were respectively honored with 60g, 40g, and 20g gold medals, and three individuals from Malaysia and one from Pakistan were awarded the honorary diplomas in the field of the environment. Moreover, top three ideas offered in the “30 by 30” contest were also honored.

Saeed Behzadpour in Healthcare; Mohammad Mehdi Kiani in ICT; Sadegh Sadeghzadeh in Water and the Environment; and Behnam Mostajeran in Energy and Abdul Rahim Abdul Samad in Economy were the winners of the first round of KANS scientific competition.

Furthermore, Saeed Behzadpour, Sadegh Sadeghzadeh, and Mohammad Ghadiani won first, second, and third places respectively for the “Top Presentations”.

On the sidelines of this ceremony, all participants recorded their debates and ideas on a network wall as brainstorming. They also wrote their wishes and goals on a wall entitled “Before I Die.”
